Thanks for the interest in this collection of photographs taken by TAE's
photographer, Lewis Lueder.

There are 10 photos that contain Mr. Edison, several unpublished and
informal as he was relaxing on the yacht Sachem while president of the Navy
Consulting Board. One close-up shows the inventor several days un-shaven.
One of Joan's favorite photographs in the collection is Thomas A. Edison
standing by an Lansden Electric delivery wagon. The Lansden Company was
organized in 1904 by Thomas A. Edison. The electric vehicle was generally
considered to be the best kind of delivery wagon for retail downtown
delivery. The gasoline vehicle was the machine for long-distance and
out-of-town work. There are many other photos which is why we put this
collection in a document for others to enjoy. There are photos of some
unknown electromechanical device used with an automobile, some layout work
for advertising, a device of a home recording attachment for a Diamond Disc
phonograph, photos of the Ediphone, Home Kinetoscope and personal
photographs Mr. Lueder had taken, along with cameras, lab equipment, lab
note books and ephemera as part of the collection. Approximately 60 photos
were constructed from various original glass plate negatives.

Hearthstone Museum received a grant for this exhibit and our main purpose
was to research and share with the collecting community and public the
unpublished photo's that we acquired .
