This Memorial Day in my home Town will be a little bit different. Harry Humphrey that well known elecutionist from the early days of recorded sound will be making a vocal appearance, when he recites on his #1651 Edison Royal Purple cylinder Reading of the Gettysburg address in Front of the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Town Hall Green, during the Parade/Ceremony . I will be set up there about 10:AM on Monday, with one of my Edison 4 Minute phonographs with a large horn of course, with a modern Mike and speaker system as well, and when the parade stops at the Town Hall for the annual Ceremonies, I will introduce Harry and this historic reading of Lincoln's speech on behalf of the Masschusetts Old Colony Antique Phonograph Society. Prior to the Parades arrival I plan on Playing some really nice Historic Music on the Phonograph IE: Stars & Stripes Forever, Washington Post March etc. for the large throng of Parade watchers. It will be a proud moment for this unabashed Patriotic Phonograph Collector.
