The scraping sound has been cured. I too only get 4-5 plays before it slows
and it does bog down on a worn Brunswick disk. It is beginning to sound
like weak springs more than anything else now.

> My question would be, did it play longer before you took it apart? I've
seen short springs in the 4 spring motors so you wouldn't get the longer
play that you would expect. You would have to replace them with longer
springs. Sorry, don't remember the lengths. The short, weak springs in
mine won't even play a worn record through without stopping. Yet I can get 4
to 5 plays on good records. Get out the stethoscope (or long screwdriver) to
find the scraping sound. Could be an improperly assembled barrel. Does it
make the noise with the turntable removed?
