I find it difficult to find ANYTHING high school kids will openly show

just about anything.
I got an enthusiastic response with a recorded sound and antique phono
presentation in 3 history classes at Sandy HS in Sandy, Oregon, 3 or 4 years
ago. The teacher ended the periods early, also, so kids who wanted could go
for a spin in the old Hupp. Maybe it helped to jolt the classes out of
their routine with some living history and I will say with shameless
immodesty that I know how to connect with kids. Recognition and simple respect is
the key. Teens closely reserve themselves, especially when among their
group, but if you don't talk down to them (inviting them to share some space
on your level) and "recognize" them hearts and minds can be unlocked.
