[Phono-L] 4 spring credenza motor problem

Movement of the spring cans seems normal and not jerky. Grease is a Moly
grease with graphite in it.

Did you take the motor board out and place on two milk crates, or two
tables, and watch the spring unwind to see where the scraping sound is
coming frome? As Bob stated the power decrease? could be weak springs. Also
what type of grease did you use to repack the spring? The wrong lubrication
could also cause problems.

? Did you wind it fully and play it before you changed the grease to
eliminate the thumping? If so how long did it play? A good four spring motor
should run about 20 minutes. If it didn't, it's possible that the springs
have lost some temper and are weak. The only other possibility is a bad
record or needle but I'm sure you thought of that.?
