In 1919 Edison put these kits together to amberolize the estimated 90%
of the two million home, standard, and triumph phonographs that were
still two minute only. He did this to stimulate record sales after the
great war. This particular kit was made for a home, these kits
included the reproducer, the carriage, a horn rubber, the reducer for
the recorder, a elbow adapter to allow a straight horn to be used, the
old feed screw was to be used.
I have a kit like this that came
from Oz. I used to have a kit that had a model O in the carriage. If anyone is interested I can send a photo of a home that was amberolized, the decal for the 2/4
position was removed.
Edison continued to sell 2 minute records until the factory fire wiped out his stock, no new titles were made after Sep 1912.
Best regards,
Steve (the parrot)
