I actually did this a long time ago, maybe 5 years ago.  I cut them on my Fairchild 199 lathe.  These did not sound too bad either, the surface noise was quite low even though I did not use a good cutter but rather a ground phono needle made in a triangle plow shape.  I would like a nice neumann lathe with a Grampian or westrex cutting head someday.
