I am assuming, based on the photos that there was a hardware variant as well with the A-250's, as my model has a gold plated Diamond disc. reproducer and hardware, while the one in the photos is not, and is presumably the early issue. and how about the horn? The size is obviously the same on all 250's but what about the color? Mine is a very attractive sort of streaked light and dark mock wood grain on the inside of the large horn. Were there any other colors issued. Also how long did Edison Offer the reproducer in its own fancy spring loaded, black leather box, with purple felt lining, molded so that the reproducer fits perfectly into it. On the bottom of the box is the Patent information with a date of March 11, 1913. I was fortunate that the party from which I acquired my A-250 had also saved this unique Edison reproducer Box for all those years. Oddly, they always used the machine to play standard 78rpm records with a conversion tone arm and victor gold reproducer. When I asked about the Edison reproducer, they seemed confused but then said. "Oh, you must mean that odd looking thing in the black box over here. We have never used that" Bruce ----- Original Message ----- From: <msprinzen at juno.com> To: <phono-l at oldcrank.org> Sent: Monday, June 25, 2007 2:13 PM Subject: Re: [Phono-L] "Official" Questionnaire for early Edison discphonographs Funny... worked just fine for me, and I'm using a PC. -- "bruce78rpm" <bruce78rpm at comcast.net> wrote: I concur, I typed in the address as given, and it took me to Mac where I entered the password, but it said that the user didn't exist or something like that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "john robles" <john9ten at pacbell.net> To: "Antique Phonograph List" <phono-l at oldcrank.org> Sent: Monday, June 25, 2007 11:43 AM Subject: Re: [Phono-L] "Official" Questionnaire for early Edison discphonographs >I can't get to that homepage..maybe it is because I have an evil PC and the >page is supported by Mac..LOL > > bruce78rpm <bruce78rpm at comcast.net> wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Andrew Baron" > To: "Antique Phonograph List" > > Sent: Monday, June 25, 2007 12:41 AM > Subject: [Phono-L] "Official" Questionnaire for early Edison disc > phonographs > > > > To see early vs. late details, Refer to photos posted on: (type) > http:// (then:) homepage.mac.com/pjfraser/phono/PhotoAlbum233 (and > finally:) .html > > Directions from Peter Fraser on accessing these photos: > the password is "pook2e" (no quotes). > > For large-scale versions of the pix, use the slideshow button, or > single-click the individual shot in which you're interested. > > THE QUESTIONNAIRE: > 1) Model number: ( A-250): > 1a) Serial number: (SM-10248 > 1b) Serial number stamped on bedplate, under platter, if different: > (_____ A1); > 2) Type of start/stop levers: Late - non adjustable stop > position); > 3) Bedplate corner detail: (Early / Late) ??; I can't enter the website > you > gave to see the diffences > 4) Number of pivoting oil hole covers on bedplate: (2); > 5) Tone modulator Present?
