Hi John, Excellent point, I soaked a mainspring in WD-40 and after a few months it was pitted. If you are going to soak things for a long time use regular oil, it worked well for me when I soaked a spring and it made it easy to clean.Steve > And use care with solvents. Years ago I left some really greasy motor parts from an Edison Standard in a tupperware container of engine degreaser. It took me some time to get around to finishing the project.
